Welcome to “GRR” |
Welcome to GRR (Glacier’s
River to Reading)! In an effort to help the students at
Glacier Park Elementary School make reading an enjoyable, DAILY
habit, the PTSA has developed this reading incentive program. The GRR
Program runs as follows:
-
Each month
(September-May) Glacier Park students will receive a
GRR Reading Log.
-
To participate
in the program Glacier Park students are required to
read for
at least 20 minutes a day for at least 20 days in a calendar month
(16 days in September). The reading should be done
outside of school. Students may read alone, read to someone else,
or have someone read to them.
-
After they
complete the GRR reading, students must then complete the GRR
Reading Log and place it in a GRR tray at school by the 5th
of the following month. If the 5th falls on a weekend,
the logs are due the next Monday (or the next school day should
Monday be a holiday). GRR trays can be found in certain classrooms,
and in every pod.
-
Each month a
different prize will be awarded to students who fulfill all the GRR
requirements. The prize for the month is noted on each of the GRR
Reading logs.
-
As an added
bonus, students who participate in GRR for at least 6 months during
the school year will also earn an award, have their name printed in
the Voice of the Valley, and receive an invitation to
attend the GRR End-of-Year Party in June. NOTE:
May’s Reading Log will not be counted toward the 6-months.
The GRR Committee is
excited about this program and I hope you are too. Look for fun and
exciting GRR contests during the school year! If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me.
Happy
Reading!
