Glacier Park Elementary is one of four elementary schools in the Tahoma School District of Western Washington. We are located in Maple Valley, Washington, nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range with Mt. Rainer looming beautifully in the background.

The intent of this website is to be a useful communications tool for all parents, students, and staff at Glacier Park Elementary.  With the active participation of everyone in the community we can collectively make a real difference in the education of our children.  Explore our site and make a decision today to
become actively involved.

“Making Every Child’s Potential a Reality”

Welcome to the 2009-2010 School Year! We are excited to be the new Glacier Park Elementary School PTSA Co-Presidents and are looking forward to working with all of you indispensable volunteers. The PTSA vision is “Making Every Child’s Potential a Reality”. The members of Glacier Park Elementary School PTSA are proud of our school’s ability to reach for that goal! Being part of the PTSA is a fantastic way to get involved in your child’s education.

The PTSA sponsors and supports many programs here at Glacier Park. Such programs include: Monthly GRR Reading, Classroom Art Docent, Reflections Art Competition, Video/Broadcasting, Drama, Playground Equipment, Field Trip Transportation, 5th Grade Camp Casey, Technology Equipment . . . and much more. These wonderfully rich supplements to our students’ learning are an integral part of our school’s culture. This enrichment to our Children’s education cannot happen without vital volunteers like you! We need your help to continue and to increase the support of these programs. There are many opportunities, some of which include working on specific events, for you to get involved. Please look in your “Welcome Packet” for the PTSA Volunteer Form that lists all the committees the PTSA operates, along with your PTSA Membership Application. Be sure to complete both of these forms and return them to the office so you too can show your support and get connected!

Starting the year off running, we are looking forward to some very exciting fundraising opportunities in September and October. Please keep your eyes open for information about our Walk-A-Thon, Art for Kids Greeting Cards (featuring your precious one’s artwork), Glacier Park’s very own spiritwear, and Elliot Bay Fundraising. Your support
of these events will only make us stronger!

We look forward to seeing you at our first general meeting on Monday, September 14th at 6:00pm. Bring your family for an exciting and informative evening, where you can learn all about getting involved while enjoying a pizza dinner. Elliot Bay Fundraising will be providing dessert! After our meeting, the school will then conduct a volunteer training session, while the PTSA provides you with child care!

Spring Book Fair
March 1-4th, 9am-4pm
March 5th, 9am-7:45pm

Come see what we’ve cooked up! Our newest theme, Book Fair Diner: All You Can Read, serves up exciting activities, creative decorations, and great books in an atmosphere of fun and literacy.

A Book Fair connects students with books at affordable prices and makes reading a positive experience. Children are more likely to read the books they personally get to choose. It’s one of the best ways to get more kids reading, and kids reading more.

*Don't forget pre-sale of basket raffle tickets can be purchased everyday at the book fair starting Monday, March 1-4th, until 4pm.

Volunteers Needed!
If you would like to volunteer, please contact Katrina Montgomery at: chicagokat705@comcast.net

We need assistance with classroom visits, set-up and clean-up.

Kellie Carney
